Advent: Box of Joy
During the Advent season students from the World Language Department participate in Cross Catholic Outreach’s Box of Joy Christmas charity. They pack Box of Joy shoe boxes with basic necessities, toys and other gifts, which are then shipped and delivered during the Christmas season to very poor children living in Latin America and other parts of the world.
Through Box of Joy, students learn the Catholic value of loving Christ in the poorest of the poor. They also practice their newly acquired foreign language skills by writing short messages of Christmas joy to those receiving the gifts.
This year our Box of Joy shoe boxes were shipped out on the Feast of St. Nicholas, patron saint of children.
