Kino Teens

Kino Teens is a club that promotes the heritage of Padre Kino who was a defender of native peoples and protector of their rights.  Kino Teens support the work of the Kino Border Initiative whose goals are compassionate care for migrants, documentation of immigrations issues, advocacy on behalf of migrants and education regarding immigration issues.  Activities include:

  • visits to the Comedor in Nogales, Sonora to serve meals to migrants and talk with them
  • toiletry collection to provide basic necessities to migrants who have been deported
  • writing letters to migrants in detention centers
  • writing and calling senators and representatives to urge them to support legislation that respects human rights
  • educating the school community about migrant issues
  • attending an annual Youth Summit with other Kino Teens clubs from southern Arizona
