Campus Ministry Center
First and foremost Campus Ministry is a continuation of the formation process begun by parents in forming young disciples of today, providing leadership opportunities and connecting them to the greater Catholic community and parishes to become those disciples who give direction to the Church today and lead the Church tomorrow.
To that end, the Campus Ministry Center envisions:
- Student leaders who lead the morning prayers, pledge and announcements.
- Student leaders who take ownership of planning and implementing the school Masses and prayer services under the guidance of the Campus Minister and School Chaplain.
- Retreats that include student leaders, along with adult leaders, especially for the lower grades retreats. This provides Kairos participants an opportunity to share their experiences and build a culture of attending and participating in retreats.
- Finally, the Campus Minister is responsible for all at the school therefore offering prayer opportunities, reflections, prayers, etc for teachers and staff would be vital to the continued formation of the school’s identity.
Working collaboratively with the School Chaplain, the Diocese, and school leadership, Campus Ministry creates beautiful spaces that evoke the glory of God particularly in the Chapel, in the gym for All school Masses and prayer services, and in various places around the school.
Prayers
Morning Prayer
Every morning Saint Augustine Catholic High School begins the day with prayer. Student-led prayer and announcements give students a sense of ownership in the school.
Our morning prayer is as follows:
Lord, may this day be Yours.
May my actions glorify You.
May my words flow from You.
Help me see you in those around me.
And, may my spirit find rest within You.
Amen.
Great are you O Lord...and worthy to be praised
Our hearts are restless...until they rest in you.
Saint Augustine...pray for us
Saint Monica...pray for us
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Community Prayer
Three days a week, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday the school gathers together for Community Prayer. We follow a shortened version of the Liturgy of the Hours to give students a sense of the prayer of the Church. These prayers are led by students and participation in the prayer is expected.
Saint Augustine Mission Day
August 28 is the feast day of our school’s patron, Saint Augustine of Hippo. To celebrate we hold a Mission Day - a day of service. This year we gathered along with organizations from the Tucson community to learn about service opportunities and why they are important to us as disciples of Christ. We end the day with reflection, Mass, and a communal lunch.

Masses
The all-school Masses are held at Saint Francis de Sales Church next door to the school. Every other Thursday Mass is offered during the school day during our Activity Period.
Director of Campus Ministries
“Campus ministry can be defined as the public presence and service through which properly prepared baptized persons are empowered by the Spirit to use their talents and gifts on behalf of the Church in order to be a sign and instrument of kingdom in the academic worlds. The eye of faith discerns campus ministry where commitment to Christ and care for the academic world meet in purposeful activity to serve and realize the kingdom God.”
